Atiku Abubakar is a popular name in the Nigerian politics world and has been active for more than 10 years. In these years, he has risen to become popular enough even to defeat the senate president, Bukola Saraki and other candidates in the primaries.

As we are waiting for the imminent showdown between the Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar let's check out some facts about Atiku Abubakar:
- Atiku Abubakar became Vice-President of Nigeria on 29 May 1999 under the regime of Olusegun Obasanjo.
- It is a popular tradition in the Fulani tribe that first sons are named after their paternal grandfathers, so you should know how he got his name.
- He has a total of 4 wives and 27 children all together. The names of his wives are Titi Abubakar, Rukayat Abubakar, Fatima Abubakar and Jennifer Abubakar.
- Atiku Abubakar started a real estate career and built his first house in 1974. So far, he has a good number of companies in different states and also has dealing with oil and gas. He is the founder of both the American University of Nigeria (AUN) and Adama Beverages Limited.
- His parents were against western education and didn't send him to school on time. However, this was later found out by the government and his parents were punished.
His mum paid a fine while his dad spent some days in jain, after that he enrolled into the Jada Primary School at the age of 8 and excelled very well.
He further proceeded to Adamawa Provincial Secondary School in Yola in 1960 and also performed well in Literature and English Language, but struggled with Mathematics, Physics and Chemisty.
In 1965, he graduated with a Grade III in WASC/GCE Certificate and proceeded to the Nigeria Police College in Kaduna.
- Mr Abubakar's son is married to the step-daughter of Nigeria's former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and their wedding was held in 2014.
- He started his political journey in 1980 at the age of 34 and to an extent, excelled in it. From the post of vice president to the managing director of Nigeria Ports Authority and others. He had participated in 3 presidential runs though this would be his first victory.
The first presidential run was in 1992, the second was in 2006-2007 while the third was in 2011.

We have seen some amazing facts about our future presidential aspirant and business man. He will be contesting against the likes of President Buhari and we are yet to decide the winner.
