BlackBerry Users Indignant As BBM Shuts Down On 31st May 2019
The popular BlackBerry owned instant messaging app, BBM will be shutting down on the 31st of May 2019.
According to a post on the BBM official blog, this would be as a result of reduction in the number of users over the past years. According to them, most of the users have migrated to other instant messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.

BBM is an app owned by the popular tech brand, BlackBerry, launched on August 1, 2005 and has over the years, helped users transmit messages and voice chats and texts over encrypted pathways.

Recall that BBM was formerly restricted to only BlackBerry users until the introduction of the Android operating system. Before the announcement, BlackBerry Messenger became available to users of Android smartphones as well as Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Before the shutting down of the app, it had over 150 million users and more than 150,000 voice calls were transmitted daily.

BBM users who are still interested in using the app can switch BBMe, the enterprise version of the messenger.
