Born on the 25th of October, 1987 as Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, DaGrin started his music career at a very early age. He was based in Meiran, Alagbado, Lagos and rapped in Yoruba, Pidgin English and English Languages.
In the year 2010, Da Grin was nominated for the Nigerian Entertainment Awards for the Best Album (C.E.O), Best Collaboration with vocals, Hottest Single 'Pon Pon Pon', and Best Rap Act.

His album, Chief Executive Omota English: Chief Executive Gangster (C.E.O) won the Hip Hop World Award for the year 2010 for best rap album and his singles, 'Pon Pon Pon' and 'Kondo' were both in it.
Dagrin during his lifetime worked with some of the finest artists such as 9ice, Y.Q, M.I., Omobaba, Iceberg Slim, Terry G, Owen G, Ms Chief, K01, TMD entertainment, MISTAR DOLLAR, Omawumi, Konga, Code and Chudy K, Bigiano.
He also worked with music producers such as Dr Frabz, Sossick, Sheyman, 02 and Frenzy.

His tragic death occurred on the 22nd of April, 2010 at the age of 22 in a ghastly motor accident in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Dagrin's Music Career

Dagrin's single, 'Pon Pon Pon' was a hit. It had some cultural significance and talked about the general lifestyle in Lagos, Ifewara, Agege, Mushin, Surulere, Ikeja, Isale Eko and some other major parts of the South Western region of Nigeria, where life in the slums mix up with life in the affluent regions of the state.
His songs touch ethnicity, pride and survival in the 'street' or ghetto regions of the country, as well as criticize bad behaviors especially among elderly ones.

The music video featured young people in their twenties and early thirties proudly displaying their tribal marks in respect to the Ile-Ife old Yoruba empire.

A movie about his life, 'Ghetto Dreamz' was released April 2011, starring Trybson Dudukoko and Doris Simeon-Ademinokan as his girlfriend.
