He is a former unified world heavyweight champion, that has held three of the four major championships in boxing:

Anthony Joshua was born on the 15th of October 1989 at Watford, Hertfordshire, England. He is of a mixed ancestry as his father is of Irish and Nigerian ancestry while his mother is fully Nigerian.
Joshua's Nigerian background and success can be traced back to the Yoruba people. He has a cousin  Ben who is also a professional boxer.
Femi (as he was called by his classmates) spent spent some years at Mayflower School in Ikenne as a boarder but returned to the United Kingdom in 2001 due to his parents' divorce. He joined Kings Langley Secondary School as he returned to the United Kingdom halfway through Year Seven.
Joshua excelled in and football and  a record in his school by running a 100 m race in 11.6 seconds.

Career And Awards

Anthony Joshua began boxing at the age of 18 after his cousin persuaded him into it. His first club was Finchley ABC in Barnet, North London which was also home to Dereck Chisora, another professional heavyweight.
His first award as a boxer was in 2009 when he won the Haringey Box Cup which he also won in 2010. In 2010, he also won another cup, senior ABA Championship in his only 18th bout.
In the early years of his career, he turned down a £50,000 offer to turn professional. According to him, this was because he didn't take up boxing because of money but because of awards. He wanted to win medals as a boxer and a year after turning down the offer, he went on to win the same tournament.

His domestic success in 2010 earned him a place on the Great Britain Boxing team and still in the same year, he became British amateur champion after defeating Amin Isa at the GB Amateur Boxing Championships.
Around June at the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships, Joshua also defeated Cathal McMonagle and Eric Berechlin but was stopped by Mihai Nistor after he received several standing counts.
In October 2011, Joshua Anthony was named by the Boxing Writers Club of Great Britain as the Amateur Boxer of the Year. He had an amateur record of 40-3.

Professional Career

On the 11th of July 2013, it was confirmed that Joshua had turned professional under the Matchroom Sport promotional banner. He made his professional debut at the O2 Arena in London on the 5th of October 2013. In the event, he beat Italian Emanuelue Leo by a TKO in the first round.
His second professional fight was against Paul Butlin, an English heavyweight and it was at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on the 26th of October 2013. The fight was stopped in the second round when the referee decided Paul Butlin was taking too much punishment and Anthony Joshua was declared the winner by TKO.
His third professional fight was against Croatian Hrvoje Kisciek on the 14th of November 2013 and he was also declared the winner thereby achieving the third knockout victory in a row. Anthony Joshua scored his second round TKO victory over Dorian Darch which took his record to 4:0.

Personal Life

Anthony Joshua enjoys playing chess and spends his spend time on it. He also reads books on ways of reinforcing his boxing and tactical abilities.
He was in 2009, placed on a reading prison for fighting. According to him, he was made to wear an electronic tag on his ankle after his release.
In 2011 at Colindale, North London, he was pulled over by the police for over-speeding. Around eight ounces of herbal cannabis was found hidden in in a sports bag in his Mercedes-Benz and he was charged with possession and intent to supply a class B drug. According to the constitution, the offence carries a maximum of 14-year sentence but he was sentenced to a 12-month community order and 100 hours' unpaid work after he pleaded guilty at the court. He was also suspended from GB boxing squad because of the offence.
Late 2016, he announced his intention of investing in a members-only fitness gym, BXR and the gym was opened in January 2017.

In his professional boxing record, he has a record of 22 wins and 1 loss. The event took place on the 1st of June 019, at the Madison Square Garden in New York City and Joshua was defeated. It was his first loss as a professional and was supposed to be against Jarrell Miller but was replaced by Andy Ruiz Jr because Jarrell couldn't pass three drug tests.
