Millicent Omanga was born on the 30th of May 1982 in Kisii, Kenya. She is the first born in a family of seven children, all girls. Growing up wasn't so rosy for Millicent as she lost her Dad at a very early age. Until his death in 1999, Millicent's Dad worked as a mechanic with the Postal Corporation of Kenya.

After completing her primary education, she enrolled at the Mumbi Girls High School, where she sat for her KCSE in 1999. She also holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Nairobi. 

Political Career

Prior to her venturing into politics, Millicent Omanga was a small-time businesswoman. Mama Miradi has credited her success in the political world to Deputy President William Ruto. Her first appointment was as a director of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen). In an interview, she narrated how she got the call that changed her life while in the market. 

According to the 38-year-old legislator, she was 'haggling over the price of 30 bedsheets at a shop in town, with the hope of reselling them at a profit.
When CS Chirchir called and asked if I was in Nairobi before directing me to rush to his office, I wondered what I had done. I got to his office and he informed me that the following day, KenGen would be holding its annual general meeting and that I had been nominated as one of the directors. I could not believe it...'

In the 2017 Kenya’s General Election, she contested for the Nairobi Women’s Rep position under the Jubilee ticket but lost the primaries to Rachel Shebesh. She is a nominated Senator under the Jubilee Party.

Personal Life

Millicent Omanga is happily married to Dr Francis Nyamiobo and the marriage is blessed with two lovely children; Wayne and Maya. Her husband works as a medical doctor in a Kenyan hospital and they've been married for over 10 years.
Millicent Omanga is a devoted Christain and member of the Seventh Day Adventist.
