Ferdinand Omanyala was born on the 2nd of January, 1996 in Nairobi the capital of Kenya. He was raised in Bungoma, where he also had his elementary and secondary education.
He is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the prestigious University of Nairobi (UoN).

Career

Ferdinand Omanyala began his career in early 2016 as a Freshman at the University of Nairobi. That year, he won the national Olympics trials over the 100m distance in a time of 10.37s but never met the qualifying standard for the Olympics which was 10.16s at the time.

He rose to stardom in 2021 in Lagos Nigeria, where he clocked 10.01 seconds on March 30, 2021, at an athletic event dubbed the “Making of Champions" Grand Prix. He finished third in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics semi-finals in 10.01 seconds.

On September 18, 2021, he capped the season with an impressive African record (9.77) at the Kip Keino Classic.

With that performance, Omanyala, who is now ranked the eighth fastest in the world, slashed eight seconds off the previous time (9.85) that was being held by South African athlete Akuni Sembine.

In December, 2021, Omanyala joined the National Police Service. According to the info, he'd be representing the police in future track events, locally.

His employment by the service was confirmed on the 3rd of December, 2021 by the Inspector-General of Police, Hilary Mutyambai.
