Without wasting any further time, let’s find out in detail all that you have to know about the top five African celebrities in Hollywood currently. Choosing five amongst so many talents was difficult, but after intensive research, I have managed to compile a small list - scroll down to read now, and don’t forget to check their performances on Pirate Bay.

1. Lupita Nyong'o

If you have watched the Oscar-winning ‘12 Years a Slave’, then you must have seen Lupita Nyong'o nailing her role on the big screen. And I am not the only one saying so - the 2014 Oscars seemed to agree with me because Lupita Nyong’o actually ended up winning an Oscar for the Best Supporting Actress.

She won for her performance as Patsey in 12 Years A Slave and became the first African who won an Oscar - isn’t that pretty inspiring? I thought the same. Lupita is also known for her groundbreaking roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Jungle Book, Queen Of Katwe, Us, and Black Panther.

2. Djimon Hounsou

Djimon Hounsou is a Beninese-American model and actor who began his career several years ago with small appearances in different music videos. He debuted in 1990 with a role in the musical comedy, Without You I'm Nothing. But that wasn’t his career-defining performance.

The year was 1997 when Djimon Hounsou delivered a well-received performance. It was the role of Cinqué in Steven Spielberg’s Amistad. He has appeared in several shows and films such as Blood Diamond, Fast and Furious 7, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Legends Of Tarzan, Shazam!, Aquaman, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel.

3. Rachel Mwanza

The whole point of featuring Rachel Mwanza in this list is her back story is inspiring - it reminds me of what Dumbledore said in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” When Rachel was young, her family was abandoned in Kinshasa.

Later, she was thrown out to the streets by her mother since some prophets claimed that she was actually a witch. So Rachel was bidding her time on the streets before she was cast in Wajnbrosse's Kinshasa Kids and in another documentary known as the Sorcerers Children, Kinshasa. But it was her groundbreaking performance in the film, Rebelle that got her the Best Actress award at Tribeca Film Festival, Vancouver Film Critics Circle, and Berlin Film Festival.

4. Chipo Chung

Chipo Chung is one actress that has been around for quite some time in Hollywood, subtly making her mark with one great performance after another. But, did you know that her birthplace is Dar es Salaam, located in Tanzania, where both her parents were then living as refugees?

The half Chinese half Zimbabwean actress has appeared several times on both the big screen and on television. Her best works include Thomas, And Friends: Big World! Big Adventures!, In The Loop, Sunshine, Absentia, Thomas And Friends, Proof, A.D The Bible Continues, Beyond Plain Sight, The Badlands, and Red Zone.

5. Danai Gurira

Danai Gurira is not just an actor, she also happens to be a talented playwright. Best known for her trailblazing performances as Michonne in AMC’s popular horror-drama tv series The Walking Dead, Danai has also appeared as Okoye within the cinematic universe of Marvel in films like Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Avengers: End Game, and Captain America: Civil War.

But those are not the only performances Danai is known for in Hollywood. Her other works include Legend of the Never Beast, Eclipsed, and Tinker Bell. Danai Gurira is one of the top African actors in Hollywood today!
