Considering the popularity of the payment gateway, many Kenyans have over the years, been using it as an alternative medium for paying the electricity bills.
Guess what, buying Kenya Power tokens using MPesa is very easy, all you need to do is follow the below steps:
• Go to M-Pesa menu• Click 'Lipa na M-Pesa'
• Click PayBill and enter the account number and KPLC Business number (888880)
• Enter the amount of money you want to buy tokens with
• Enter your M-Pesa pin
• Click send and wait for a confirmation from both M-Pesa and Kenya Power
• After receiving the confirmation message one can now enter the tokens in their meter box
For those with Equitel lines:
• Select Eazzy Pay from your Equitel menu• Select Pay Bill from Eazzy Pay
• Choose the bank account number to pay from e.g.0123456789102
• Select business number – KPLC Tokens
• Enter your KPLC Prepaid Meter Number (e.g. 37168917674) press OK
• Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs.500,000.
• Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK
• Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK
• You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank
• KPLC will then generate prepaid token valid for your meter and send via SMS
To pay postpaid electricity bill using MPesa
• Select “Pay Bill” from the M-Pesa menu• Enter the Kenya Power business number 888 888
• Enter your new Kenya Power account number e.g. 123456
• Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs.35,000
• Enter your M-Pesa PIN (confirm the data to avoid making mistakes)
• You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS
For those with Equitel lines:
• Select Eazzy Pay from your Equitel menu
• Select Pay Bill from Eazzy Pay (choose bank account number and business number)
• Enter your new Kenya Power meter number e.g. 2831172 or 3436980.
• Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs.100 and Shs.500,000.
• Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK
• Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK
• You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.
• Select Pay Bill from Eazzy Pay (choose bank account number and business number)
• Enter your new Kenya Power meter number e.g. 2831172 or 3436980.
• Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs.100 and Shs.500,000.
• Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK
• Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK
• You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.
