Jeff Koinange is an award-winning Kenyan journalist and host of Jeff Koinange Live, a talk show on Citizen TV. 

He is also a judge representing Kenya at the new East Africa's Got Talent and a host of the breakfast show at HOT 96 alongside Professor Hamo. He has served as the Africa correspondent for CNN and CNN International (2001 to 2007), and later as chief reporter at TV station K24 from 2007 to December 2012.

Jeff Koinange Biography and Career

Jeff Koinange was born on the 7th of January, 1966 in Kenya. In 1987, he gained admission to study at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY, graduating in 1989 with an associate degree. He thereafter gained proceeded to the prestigious New York University for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.

In 1986, Jeff Koinange started working as a flight attendant in Pan Am Airways. He did the job for almost two years.

In 1991, he got another job as a reporter in ABC News, working till 1992. He also worked as a producer in ABC News in 1994 before proceeding to Reuters Television, where he worked from 1995 to 2001.

Jeff Koinange worked with CNN until 29 May 2007. During his period at CNN, he was reprimanded by the government of Nigeria for his coverage of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). In Koinange's report, he accompanied masked MEND guerillas to a camp where they were holding a number of Filipino hostages. The Nigerian government claimed that the report was staged, a charge which was denied by the CNN.

Months after leaving CNN, K24 hired Koinange as a news anchor. He was the host of Capital Talk Show. Jeff Koinange now hosts 'Jeff Koinange Live', a talk show aired on Citizen TV Kenya.

Personal Life

Jeff Koinange got married to his first wife, Sonya in 1988 but they got separated in 1994 due to personal reasons. In 1998, he married his second wife, Shaila Koinange. The union is blessed with one son Jamal Mbiyu Koinange.
