Seun Kuti Biography and Career

Seun Kuti was born on the 11th of January, 1983. He is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and a grandchild of a political campaigner, women's rights activist and traditional aristocrat Funmilayo Ransome Kuti.

Seun became interested in music at five years old, by nine he was playing with his father's band Egypt 80. He took to the role of leading the band after his father's death on August 2nd, 1997.

The band released its first album under the moniker Sean Kuti & Egypt 80 in 2008. The album, which was titled 'Many Things' gained numerous positive reviews among Nigerians, especially the fans of the late Fela.

Seun Kuti is featured in Calle 13's song 'Todo se mueve' (Everything Moves), on their 2010 album Entren los que quieran.

In 2019, Seun was a featured guest on American rapper Jidenna's second studio album, '85 to Africa'.

Personal Life

Seun Kuti and his girlfriend, Yetunde George Ademiluyi welcomed their first child, Adara Kuti on 16th December 2013. Yetunde who happened to be one of his dancers is the granddaughter of a prominent Lagos monarch.

In 2014, Kuti was given an honorary invitation to perform live for the first time at the Industry Nite.
