Adam Nuhu Biography and Educational Background

Adam Nuru was born on the 31st of August in Kwara State, Nigeria. After completing his primary and secondary education, he gained admission to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

He also holds a Master's degree from the Bayero University, Kano.

Career

Mr. Adam Nuru has over 20 years of experience covering Corporate Finance, Consumer Banking, Public Sector, Treasury, Commercial/Retail Banking and Human Resources Management.

He began his career at the Nigerian Agricultural & Cooperative Bank. He has also worked at Oceanic Bank and FSB International Bank (Now Fidelity Bank).

Mr Nuru joined FCMB in 2005 as the Head of Enterprise Management overseeing Human Resources, Administration & Logistics and Branch Development.

In 2009, he joined FinBank Plc as Executive Director, North Nigeria. He later rejoined FCMB in 2012 as Executive Director Abuja & North Nigeria, following the merger of FCMB and FinBank.

In 2017, Adam Nuru was appointed as the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc, following the expiration of Ladi Balogun's tenure.

Controversies

• Following the arrest of former EFFC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, Mr Nuru was questioned for sending ₦573 million to Prophet Omale who was the pastor of the former EFCC boss. The FCMB chieftain, however, denied the allegation, while claiming that the money was mistakenly posted to the prophet's account.
• In December 2020, Adam Nuru got involved in a paternity scandal that got more than 1,500 people signing a petition to sack him as the MD of FCMB.

According to the reports, a man, identified as Tunde Thomas died out of heartbreak after discovering that the FCMB chieftain was the biological father of his children. His wife, Moyo Thomas who worked with the bank, reportedly resigned to travel to the United States with the children.

The later involved her late husband that the children weren't his after they refused to return to the school when they resumed. She also filed an asylum in the United States on the grounds of marital violence.
