Emilia Asim-Ita Biography and Educational Background

Emilia Asim-Ita was born on the 10th of June, 1987 in Cross River State. After obtaining her First School Leaving Certificate, she enrolled at the Methodist Girl High School, Yaba.

Asim-Ita subsequently gained admission to the prestigious University of Lagos (UniLag) for her university education, graduating in 2008 with a degree in Mass Communication. She also holds a masters degree in Mass Communications from the university.

Career

Emilia Asim-Ita had 16 years of experience in Marketing and Development Communications. She began her career as a Presenter, Book Review Segment, Mind Your Grammar on NTA 2 Channel 5 before working as a Presenter, Youth Talk with Emilia on NTA Network Service for five years.

Emilia was Strategy & Communications Director, 3AL, Associate Producer and Content Director, The Academy and Amstel Malta Box Office Reality shows. She was also the PR/Marketing Director for the convening organisation, RedSTRAT Communications (now RED Media) for six years.

In 2005, Emilia Asim-Ita, alongside Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams came together and created The Future Awards/ The Future Nigeria project.

In 2010, Emilia founded her brand and communications firm, AML Media.

She taught and consulted on Development Communications, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental & Social Risk Management, Corporate Reporting, Advocacy & Policy Influencing, Corporate Governance, Grant Writing, and Executive Coaching amongst many others.

The late Emilia also served as a mentor for Queens Young Leaders (YLP) Programme by Cambridge University, United Kingdom, and both Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) and I.N.V.E.N.T. in Nigeria. She was an Associate Fellow, Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), a Global Shaper of World Economic Forum and Member, Global Shapers Advisory Council on Impact after serving as Curator of the Lagos Hub.

Death

Emilia Asia-Ita reportedly died on the 29th January 2021, of complications from appendicitis surgery at the age of 33.
