Joshua Oigara was born on the 9th of November, 1975 at Kisii, Kenya. His parents, William and Diana Oigara were both schoolteachers and tea farmers at the Gesima Settlement Scheme in Borabu, where he grew up. Joshua isn't the only child of his parents. Two of his siblings are medical doctors while another two are professors.After completing his high school education, he was admitted to the University of Nairobi for a Bachelor of Commerce (accounting degree). He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Edith Cowan University and a certificate in Accounting from Strathmore University school of accountancy.

Joshua Oigara is the youngest CEO of a publicly-traded bank at the NSE. He got appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Commercial Bank Group at the age of 37.
Prior to the appointment, he was the Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of the Company between January 12, 2012, and January 2013. He has also served as Group Chief Financial Officer at KCB Bank Group for East Africa.
He joined Kenya Commercial Bank in November 2011, after leaving Bamburi Cement where he served as Group Financial Director and Chief Financial Officer for the East Africa region.
