Charles Adu Boahen Biography and Educational Background

Charles Adu Boahen was born in Ghana to the family of Albert Adu Boahen and Mary Adu Boahen. Albert Adu Boahen was a popular academic and politician. He was notable for being a candidate in the 1992 Ghanaian presidential election, representing the main opposition New Patriotic Party.

Charles attended Achimota School in Accra, Ghana. He further travelled to the United States, where he obtained a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Career

Charles Adu Boahen has over 19 years’ experience in Finance, specifically in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Private Equity and Real Estate.

Prior to his appointment as a Deputy Minister for Finance, he was the CEO of Black Star Advisors, an investment bank and asset management firm and Primrose Properties Ghana, a boutique and a real estate development company.

Hon Adu Boahen also worked with JP Morgan for over five years as Vice President and Head of Investment Banking for Sub-Saharan Africa, before moving to Standard Bank of South Africa (SBSA) where he was the Director and Regional Head of Corporate and Investment Banking.
