He is currently serving as the special adviser to Gombe State governor, Inuwa Yahaya on security matters. His dedication to curbing crime and drug abuse in Kano State earned him the Nickname Singham comparing him to an Indian Movie Character Singham. He retired from the Nigerian Police in 2019.

Muhammad Wakili was born on the 26th of May, 1959 in Gombe State, Nigeria. He had his primary education at Central Primary School, Gombe. After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at the Government Secondary School, Maiduguri for his SSCE.

He further secured admission to the University of Maiduguri, where he graduated from in 1985 with a BA in Languages and Linguistics. He subsequently participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.


Muhammad Wakili attended the Nigerian Police Academy between 1988 and 1989, after which he got enlisted to the Nigeria Police (Force) as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent.
