Junet Mohamed was born on the 25th of October, 1977 to the family of Sheikh Nuh Mohammed, a native of Mandera County who relocated to Migori for businesses purposes. His father was a Muslim who raised up his children in the faith.Junet had his primary education at Migori Primary School, after which he enrolled bat the Lenana High School for his secondary education. He further secured admission to study at the prestigious University of Nairobi, graduating with a degree in Business Administration.
He also holds a Diploma in Business Management from the Woodvale Institute Of Professional Studies located in Kisumu.

Career and Politics
In 2003, Junet Mohamed started his political career as a councillor in Migori town.
In 2013, he got elected as a Member of Parliament representing Suna East with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, becoming the first person from Somali ethnicity to be elected in Nyanza region under the party's ticket. He was re-elected in 2017.
Currently, Junet Mohamed is the minority chief whip, courtesy of ODM party leader, Raila Odinga.
