Oluwakayode Junior Balogun was born on the 13th of February, 1993 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Nigeria. His father, Ayinde Barrister was also a very popular singer and songwriter, he was in fact, regarded as a pioneer of Fuji and Wéré music.
Barry Jhay had his primary and secondary education in Oyo State. In an interview with Vanguard, he revealed that he doesn't have a university certificate because he wanted to do music. He wanted to do nothing, other than music production and sound engineering.
