Ifeanyi Ararume was born on the 16th of December, 1958 at Isiebu, Umuduru in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria to late Marcus Ararume and Adaezi Grace Ararume (Nee Anyiam).
He attended St. Eugene’s Primary School, Eziukwu Aba in present-day Abia State and St. Christopher Primary school, Umuluwe, Osuachara in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State.
After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at Sapele Technical College, now in Delta State. He, however, completed his secondary education at Dick Tiger Memorial Secondary School, Amaigbo.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and a Masters Science Degree (M.SC) in International Relations from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.
Career and Politics
Ifeanyi Ararume is a successful businessman and politician. His history in politics began in the 1990s and he has been active over the years, handling several top positions including:
• State Treasurer for Liberal Convention in old Imo State (1988 - 1989)
• He joined National Finance Committee of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) created by former military dictator General Ibrahim Babangida from 1990 to 1993, and as Chairman, NRC Presidential Primaries for Kwara and Delta States.
• State Chairman of the defunct All People's Party (APP); later All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Imo State (1998 - 1999)
• In 1999, he got elected to the Senate representing Imo North (Okigwe) constituency of Imo State, Nigeria of People's Democratic Party (PDP)
• In 2003, he got re-elected as Senator, under the same political party
• He contested for Imo State governorship in 2011, 2015 and 2019 but lost.
