Born in 1946, Iskilu Wakili is a popular Nigerian businessman and leader of the Fulani Herdsmen in Oyo. Even though he originally hails from the Northern part of Nigeria, he has made a name for himself in Oyo State, where he resides with his family and also runs the cattle business.Controversies and Arrest
Iskilu Wakili resides in Ayete community in Ibarapa region of Oyo State and has been accused of terrorising Oyo communities. It was alleged that he was responsible for the farmer-herder clash in Igangan as well as series of kidnapping in Oyo State and also alleged to own several sophisticated weapons.
The Fulani warlord was reportedly issued a quit notice by residents of the Ibarapan Local Government. According to the information, he was accused of not buying the land he occupied and told to evacuate the premises by the community, lead by Sunday Igboho.
They (the comminity) also claimed they had earlier written a petition to the government, following Wakili's refusal to acquire the land he occupied. They also alleged that he was threatening them.
In March 2021, Ishkilu Wakili was arrested by the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) led by Gani Adams. He was subsequently handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution if found guilty of the charges.
