Dr Mercy Mwangangi Biography and Educational Background

Mercy Mwangangi was born on the 28th of August, 1986 and she hails from Machakos County. After completing her primary school education, she joined  Pangani Girls in Nairobi for her secondary education.

Mwangangi thereafter enrolled at the prestigious University of Nairobi, where she obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Health Economics and Policy from Australia’s University of Adelaide.

Career

Dr Mercy Mwangangi began her career in her hometown upon completing her education. She was posted as an intern at the Machakos Level Five Hospital, where she worked for a year before getting posted to Meru South.

After her overseas education, Mwangangi was fortunate to be among the youth CAS appointees selected by President Uhuru Kenyatta. She first began as the Head of Health Financing and Health Economics, a role she held at the ministry of health. This was before she finally became the CAS.

Besides her role, Mercy is also a joint secretary in the Universal Health Coverage taskforce, which is among the pillars of the Big Four Agenda of the Jubilee Government. She is also actively involved in the African Women in Leadership Network.
