Parag Agrawal Biography and Educational Background
Parag Agrawal was born on the 21st May 1984 in Ajmer, India to the family of Ram Gopal Agrawal and Shashi Agrawal. His father was a senior official in the Indian Department of Atomic Energy while his mother is a retired school teacher.
Agrawal studied at Atomic Energy Central School No.4 and Agrawal obtained his B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2005. He then moved to the United States to pursue a PhD in computer science from Stanford University under the guidance of Jennifer Widom.
Career
Prior to joining Twitter in 2011, Parag Agrawal held leadership positions at Microsoft Research and Yahoo! Research.
In Octobr 2017, following the departure of Adam Massinger, he got appointed as the chief technology officer (CTO) of the social media company.
In December 2019, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that Agrawal would be in charge of Project Bluesky, an initiative to develop a decentralized social network protocol.
