What is the Imo Work and Learn Program all about?
IWALP is specially designed by the Government of Imo State under the administration of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State to provide Imo State Citizens and residents, particularly the youth with opportunities to be employed in viable areas of services with or without requisite knowledge and skills, and then trained accordingly to acquire the knowledge and skill required to succeed in their choosing career part.
What is the difference between the Imo Work and Learn Program and the SkillUp Project?
SkillUp Imo is purely for training and skill acquisition, while iWALP assigns tasks to candidates to work and learn while being paid a monthly remuneration.
SkillUp Imo is for every interested citizen and resident of Imo State, while IWALP is for selected candidates.
What do I stand to gain from this program?
Aside from the knowledge and skills which are the principal aims of the scheme, the government has pledged ₦50,000 monthly remuneration + free laptops for the first 10,000 participants.
Can someone without a laptop participate?
Yes, the Governor has made laptops available for the first set of 10,000 participants of the IWALP
Is this program for only students?
No, the program is open to citizens and residents of Imo State.
Is this program for only indigenes?
No, but you must be resident in Imo State over the course of the training.
Can I introduce people I know to this program?
Yes, the empowerment program is open to everyone who will be available in the state during the course.
After the closing of the application, would there be any other opportunities for those who are unable to meet up with the application deadline?
The programme is designed to run in phases and streams, if you miss a particular deadline, you would still have the opportunity to register for the next phase when the application for that phase opened.
