ITIC To Recruit, Train 11,000 Imo Youths Through The Imo Work And Learn Program (IWALP)

The Imo State Technology and Innovation Centre, ITIC has launched a free skill acquisition program focused on empowering Imo youths. It aims at training 11,000 indigent and unemployed Imo youths in skill areas of interest and empowering them with the necessary tools to launch their own startups and secure employment opportunities.

The first set of 5,000 IWALP participants would be engaged for training for 12 weeks in various areas of applications which include – Web Development, Business Innovation, Mobile App Development, Cybersecurity and Forensics, Networking and Hardware, and Engineering. Others include; Robotics and Mechatronics, 3D Technology, Drone Technology, Social Media and Digital Marketing and Animation and Multimedia among others.

Unlike typical empowerment programs, participants of the Imo Work And Learn Program (IWALP) get to be paid monthly, amongst other benefits.

His Excellency Hope Uzodinma executive Governor of Imo State, while inaugurating the Skill Up Imo Project announced that the 3R mantra of his government will never relent in its owers towards empowering the youths. He further pledged to support in every possible way, including providing laptops to participants of the program.

He said, “It is for the development of the youths, the development of their lives, the lives of their families and that of the state in general. When the state achieves this laudable programme, Imo will be peaceful and the youths of Imo State will come up to be role models in Nigeria and Africa in general.
