Sammy Gyamfi Biography and Educational Background

Sammy Gyamfi was born on the 28 March 1989 in Ghana. He originally hails from Sunyani in the Bono Region of Ghana but has spent almost all his life in Kumasi. After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, he enrolled at St. James Seminary Secondary School for his secondary education.

He further secured admission to study Law at the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was called to the bar on Friday, 5th October 2018.

Involvement in Politics

Sammy Gyamfi wasn't politically conscious while growing up, but he fell in love with politics during his first year at KNUST. At Unity hall of KNUST, he was always around members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) until he experienced discrimination and intolerance by members of the TESCON group, a move that made him dump the party for NDC's tertiary group TEIN.

Sammy's outspoken nature, coupled with his smartness and in-depth knowledge in politics while in the new party helped him win the hearts of the other members. He was highly hailed by all.

In 2011, he became the President of TEIN-NDC KNUST, a position he held until 2012. The position helped increase his popularity in all other Ashanti region, making the then Mayor of Kumasi Mr Kojo Bonsu appoint him as the spokesperson and public relations officer for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) between 2012-2016.

While in the Ghana Law School, Sammy Gyamfi was elected as the Students Representative Council (SRC) President.

Sammy Gyamfi has been an active member of the Communications Team of the NDC over the last ten years and has played various roles for the NDC in both the Brong-Ahafo and Ashanti Regions. He has served as the Communications Director of Ibrahim Mahama’s Exton Cubic Mining Group.

In November 2018, he contested for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) position of National Communication Officer and won massively.
