Susan Kihika Biography and Educational Background

Susan Kihika was born in 1974 in Nakuru County. Her father, Kihika Kimani was a Moi-era politician. She was the sixth child of her mother's children, and one of her father's 41 children.

Susan had her primary education at Busara Forest View Academy in Nyahururu. After obtaining her First School leaving Certificate, she enrolled at the Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls’ High School in Nyeri.

In 1992, she migrated to the United States to further her education. She got admitted to the University of North Texas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

In 2006, Susan Kihika graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the Law School of Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas. She was subsequently admitted to the Texas Bar after passing the requisite examinations.

Career

Susan Kihika began working in the public service upon her graduation from law school. She later left the public service to establish The Kihika Law Firm in Dallas, Texas.

She returned to Kenya in 2012, after staying in the United States for over 20 consecutive years. A year after her return, she contested the Bahati Constituency parliamentary seat but lost. She later went on to emerge as the first Assembly Speaker of Nakuru County after beating a field of seven opponents.
