Five Most Profitable Remote Jobs To Do In Nigeria

In this article, we'd be seeing the five easy, yet profitable remote jobs one can do in Nigeria in 2020. Before we start, let me run through a quick definition of a remote job, or rather, a remote employee. A remote employee is someone who is employed by a company but works outside of a traditional office environment. For example, I'm typing this article from my bedroom and I have the liberty of working anytime I wish to do so. It doesn't matter if I work from home, a local coworking space, a hotel, or even in a cyber-cafe, all that matters is that I meet to my employer's target.

Nowadays, it doesn't matter if you're in Lagos, Abuja, Imo or even Kano State, all you need to get a high paying job is the right skill and information. With just your internet connection and electricity, you'd be working with other employees within Africa and beyond.

The year 2020 has exposed the work to more reasons why they should adapt remote-jobs, thanks to the COVID-19. If you can do the job from your house, why dress up every morning? I create websites clients that I've never seen before. They just contact me, describe the type of website they want and voila, I start working. If need be, we video chat. If I have files to send to them, I can use my email or any other medium they choose, that's the beauty of the internet.

In the paragraphs below, I'd be listing out some remote or rather, online jobs that one can venture into in 2020.

• Digital marketing

Digital marketing is one of the easiest ways of making money online. The term might sound complicated to you, but trust me, it isn't. Yes, digital marketing is simply an aspect of marketing that makes use of the internet and online-based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services.

I actually listed it first because all other skills directly or indirectly depend on digital marketing. Do you sell cars, houses, clothes, toothpaste, foot stuff or..., your customers are online. I can't count how many times I've bought things online this year, from my phone to my laptop and even home appliances, all were gotten from Juimia and Konga. That's why I always present myself as the greatest fan of the internet...Lol.

To succeed as a digital marketer, you need to have a good knowledge of online promotion. In short, you have to master different internet promotional strategies like SEO, social media marketing, email marketing, paid advertising and more.

Can you write? If yes, you can make good money writing for different clients online. Before creating this blog in 2017, I and Clifford worked as freelance writers for a few years. To be honest, getting clients isn't hard, as long as you know the right way.

We had regular clients coming from different countries of the world, including the United Kingdom, the United States and India. At a point, we had to start rejecting gigs in order to focus on this blog. Blogging is another lucrative way of making money online. Blogging simply refers to writing, photography, and other media that's self-published online. In Nigeria, we only know about the article blogging, which involves writing contents online for traffic, so I'd be focusing on that here.

There are many niches you can venture into as a blogger, from news to lifestyle and even gadget reviews. I started this blog as a multi-niche, but we have other blogs that focus on other niches. We run a news platform, an academic blog, and others.

How much does it cost to start a blog? ₦100,000? Hell no, just a few thousands. You only need a domain and a hosting account to set your blog running. There are hundreds of hosting accounts in the world for you to choose from, but I regularly recommend Namecheap, because I've been working with them for years. I use them in almost all my clients' websites. And lest I forget, they'd also give you a discount if you buy a hosting plan with this link.

Please note, buying a hosting plan doesn't mean that you'd become a successful blogger. It requires patience and willingness to learn. You have to be ready to spend your time acquiring new skills that will help you get more traffic to your blog. I won't bore you with long tales, I have a few web developer friends, and to be honest, they're making it big.

• Photography

I actually included photography last in the list because of its nature. It is a skill that is much circumvented when talking about remote jobs, partly because man people don't see it as such. Yes, as a photographer, you need a studio, but there is no criterion, just do your best.

All you basically need to succeed as a photographer is a good camera and passion. When I talk about passion, I mean a burning desire for capturing beauty, which resides wherever you choose to see it. As a blogger, when I go to the supermarket, I don't just see items, I see competitors and different ways they're trying to beat each other in a saturated market. As a photographer, you should be able to see the beauty in your day-to-day leaving. Try to figure out the best ways to bring out the best in your photos.

About how to make money as a photographer, you can sell your photos online, join photo contests, start a YouTube channel or photograph blog and/or even n sell your skills online. It is not so easy but is s simple, and within a short period of time, you'd start getting noticed.
