Kelechi was born into the house of James and Mercy Iheanacho on the 3rd of October, 1996. He was born in Onogwe, Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. His name, Kelechi, interpreted to English Language simply means, 'Thank God'.Kelechi's father, James was a trader while his mother, a teacher died when he was just fourteen years old. He has a sister and two brothers, of whom one is Chibuike Iheanacho, also a footballer.
At a very early age, he was always punished for playing football with his peers however, the pressure from his parents reduced when he joined Imo State in a match which they won in Abuja, many years back. Maybe our parents should learn to let us chase our dreams...Lol!

Football Career And Rise To Limelight
Having started his career at the Taye Academy, Owerri, Imo State, Iheanacho's rise to limelight hopped in fully after he was featured in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in which Nigeria won.He began an international career January 10, 2014 at the Manchester City football academy and he scoured in a first match 4-1 win against Sporting Kansas City in a pre-match, held in the US.
After that, Kelechi also kicked the ball into the net in a match against AC Milan. Being Impressed by his performances, the team arranged for him to join the Columbus Crew however the plans didn't work out.
That affected him negatively and he couldn't play in any match in England until the year 2015. February 2015, he came into the field once again but was injured barely 11 minutes to the game and had to withdraw.
After his recovery, he started playing in the Man City under-21 team and captured the hearts of so many football fan. Since then, Iheanacho has grown to be one of the most successful Nigerian footballers and still going higher.
