Born on the 20th of May, 1958, Femi Falana is a Nigerian lawyer, politician and human rights activist.He attended the St. Michael’s Primary School, Ilawe, from years 1963 to 1968 and after that, moved on to the Sacred Heart Catholic Seminary for his secondary education from 1971 to 1975. He got admission into the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1977 and finished in 1981.
Falana began his legal practice in 1982, just a year after graduation and floated his own Chambers, Femi Falana which he later changed to Falana and Falana Chambers, having his wife as a partner.
He excelled in his law practice and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2012. His first action as a human rights activist was in 1983, when students were illegally detained and he took bail for them.
Aside being a lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana is also a politician and contested for the Ekiti State Governorship in 2007, but lost the election. He served as the party's National Chairman in 2011.
Femi Falana is married to a fellow human rights activist, Funmi Falana and they have three children including Falz, the popular Nigerian rapper and online comedian.
