Well, it's a common occurrence and of course like every other problems, has a solution. It doesn't mean that your phone is bad, just a little malfunctioning that can be corrected easily.
It could be from the phone's hardware or software and be low are some possible solutions:
Step 1: Restart the phone, in most cases the camera should start functioning immediately. If it doesn't, try step 2.
Step 2: Go to the phone's settings, find the camera application in the apps' section and locate storage, you'll see an option to clean cache, clear storage and clean it.
Restart your phone so you can activate the changes and then test your camera.
Step 3: Get a technician to format the phone or you can do it yourself if you know how to. If it doesn't start working after this, try updating the firmware.
Step 4: If after trying the first three options it still doesn't work, try installing a camera restarter app from the playstore.
You may however need to root your phone before using the app.
Step 5: If none of the above tips worked, it could probably be a hardware fault and would require changing the camera module.
