Twitter CEO's Handle Hacked. What Could Have Gone Wrong?

Twitter CEO's Handle Hacked
The CEO and co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey's official handle on the platform was recently attacked by hackers.
He had his own account briefly taken over by the hackers, who referred to themselves as the Chuckling Squad.
The profile which had more than four million followers, twitted out a flurry of highly offensive and racist remarks for about 15 minutes.

Twitter however stated that their own systems weren't compromised, rather blamed an unnamed mobile operator.
According to them,
“The phone number associated with the account was compromised due to a security oversight by the mobile provider.”
“This allowed an unauthorised person to compose and send tweets via text message from the phone number. That issue is now resolved.”
Well, it was rectified before severe damages could have occurred.
