Senzo Mfunzo Vilakazi, popularly known as Kwesta was born on the 11th of August, 1988, in South Africa. He grew up in Katlehong Ekuhleni, Gauteng with his mother after his parents divorced when he was only 8 years old.
He had his early education at the Phumuloni Secondary School before proceeding to Alafong High School. The rapper didn't complete high school as he dropped out at the age of 16 to concentrate fully on his music career.

Entertainment Career

Kwesta developed an interest in poetry while in high school. In 2003, he was a part of The Ghetto Fellas music group which was later renamed to The Juvenylz.
Two years after leaving the group, Kwesta is a quest to breakthrough in the industry reached an agreement with Africa's Most Southern Record Company to use their studios. While waiting for the deal to go through, the rapper start taking parts in several events and competitions to make his brand visible.
He participated and won the YFm's Rap Activity Jam MC of the month competition. He also topped the ETV's Shiz Niz freestyle Kings Special.
In addition, Kwesta performed in several shows like The Durban Beach Festival, Miss Confidence Show and The Rand Show.

In April 2007, Kwesta got signed to the Buttabing entertainment and his career took a new turn. He further got different gigs including a feature on The Ventilation Street Tape and a judging gig on the Sprite Hip Hoop Tour in 2007. He also worked with other South African artists to develop a theme song for The Nokia Defend Your Street Campaign.
The same year, he released his his inaugural single Shap Fede which received relatively good airplay. He further collaborated with DJ C-Live in releasing his first mixtape.

In 2010, Kwesta was selected as Brand SA Ambassadors and he performed during the national roadshows held before the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He also got an opportunity to perform in the 2010 FIFA World cup closing ceremony. 
He also worked with artists like 2Face, Kelly Rowland and Jozi on the Everywhere You Go anthem for MTN.
In 2012, Kwesta left Buttabing and formed his own record label, Urbantainment. He said that he formed the label as a means of mentoring talented artists. He has so far signed artists like TLT, a rap group from Kwesta’s hometown.

Kwesta is married to Yolanda Mvelase and they have been living happily together for more than 5 years. They both have a daughter named Khai.
About Kwesta's parents; Kwesta was raised by his Mum after his parents divorced when he was only eight years old. After the divorce, the mother trained him up with his other siblings in Katlehong Ekuhleni, Gauteng.
In 2017, Kwesta success in the entertainment industry brought his parents together as they both attended a party to celebrate Kwesta's SAMA award wins. They took a photo together with their son in the middle and the rapper took to his Instagram to describe how special the moment was to him.
