Another thing that contributed to Montana's fame was his friendship and involvement with fellow popular rapper, Fetty Wap. He was formerly in the Remy Boyz 1738 collective with Fetty Wap and P Dice, though the latter was eventually kicked out.

In 2016 October, former Remy Boyz member P-Dice, filed a $7 million suit against Fetty Wap over the 2015 Hot 100 top-five hit "679" -- where Monty's verse on the official track replaced P-Dice's original.
