Gates was reportedly helped in part by the Pentagon's sudden decision to award the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud, or JEDI which worth $10 billion to Microsoft over Amazon.
Microsoft shares have since climbed 4%, giving Gates a $110 billion fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Bezos’s net worth has however gone down by about 2% putting him in a net worth of $108.7 billion.
Bill Gates, 64 will be topping Bezos, 55, for the first time in 2 years. Amazon.com Inc. last month, posted its first profit drop in two years, with its shares paring the decline.
