Nigerians Blast Investigative Journalist After Calling Nigerian Local Rice 'Dirty'

Fisayo Soyombo
Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has just been blasted by Nigerians for a post he made on his Twitter handle condemning the Nigerian local rice.
In the post, he referred to the local rice as 'Nonsense', sharing photos and claiming that it was because of the border closure.
Nigerians didn't take it lightly with him as some even went to the extent of advising him to wash the rice properly before cooking. He was also advised to buy a better better rice brand as locally made rice comes at different types and rates.

Fisayo Soyombo became popular after the story of how he spent two weeks in detention — five days in a Police cell and eight as an inmate in Ikoyi Prison — to track corruption in Nigeria’s criminal justice system, beginning from the moment of arrest by the Police to the point of release from prison was shared to the public.

Fisayo Soyombo is also a contributor to the Aljazeera news and former pioneer editor of Nigerian online newspaper TheCable. He was nominated in 2016 for The Future Awards Africa Nigeria Prize for Journalism.

What do you think? Have you tasted the local rice? If yes, kindly share your experiences and how you manages to cook it without.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the border closure to January 31st.
