Soul Train 2019: Wizkid Wins Songwriting Award For ‘Brown Skin Girl’
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has won the SoulTrain’s Ashford and Simpson Songwriters’ award.
Information Guide Africa reports that the 'Soco' crooner earned the award for his collaboration with Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter and Saint John. The song, 'Brown Skin Girl' was from Beyoncé's 2019 album 'The Lion King: The Gift'.

The winners of the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards were announced at the 2019 ceremony held on Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Wizkid shares the award with other credited songwriters including, Beyoncé Knowles, Carlos St. John, Adio Marchant and Shawn Carter.

Others are Stacy BartheAnathi Mnyango, Michael Uzowuru, Ayodeji Balogun and Richard Isong.

This was the third time Wizkid had made the nominees’ list for the prestigious award. His 2017 collaboration with Drake titled ‘Come Closer’ also earned him a nomination for the Best Dance Performance.
In 2016, he was also nominated for the Rhythm and Bars category for his song 'One Dance'.
