‘Please Don’t Handcuff Me’ - Orji Uzo Kalu Begs Prison Warders As Court Sentences Him To Jail
Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Abia State governor and Senate Chief Whip has been sentenced to 12 years in jail after he was found guilty of ₦7.65bn fraud.
The 12 year sentence is the highest among the 39 counts convicting the defendants, the lowest sentence being three years.

In addition to the jail terms, the court also ordered the forfeiture of Sen. Kalu's company, Slok Nigeria Ltd th the federal government.

Justice Idris Mohammed also sentenced Kalu’s associate, Jonnes Udeogu to 10 years in prison. Udeogu was Kalu's former commissioner of Finance. 

While taking them to jail after his sentencing, Kalu seen asking prison warders, “where are you taking us to?” 

The former governor, who appeared shaken, said, “Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you.”
