Thyra Oji was born on the 14th of April, 1994, in London, England to a a Nigerian father and a Ugandan mother. She was born Thyra, but decided to adapt the name 'Ms. Banks' because of the similarities between the pronunciation of her name and that of American television personality, Tyra Banks.

Oji began writing music at age 11 and has so far, released three mixtapes as Ms. Banks. Her first mixtape, 'Once Upon a Grind' was released in 2014. This was quickly followed by an EP, 'New Chapter EP', released in 2018 and 'The Coldest Winter Ever Part II' in 2019.

Personal Life

Ms. Banks was born and raised South Londoner. Though a British native, Thyra comes from Nigerian and Ugandan heritage. Her music career was greatly influenced by her musical family and upbringing.
According to her; “I wrote my first bar aged 11 – and it’s been continuous ever since. I come from a very musical family – so I’ve always been hearing different music in my house, and wanting to write.”
About her boyfriend, Thyra Oji is currently in a relationship with British boxer, Lawrence Okolie.

She performed live during Lawrence Okolie ring walk prior to the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight Championship fight between Lawrence Okolie and Wadi Camacho at Copper Box Arena on March 23, 2019 in London, England.
