David Oyedepo was born on the 27th of September, 1954 at Osogbo, Nigeria but he is a native of Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. David's father was a Muslim healer. His mother, Dorcas, was a member of the Holy Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church (C&S).David Oyedepo was raised by his grandmother in Osogbo. His grandma was a Christain and introduced him to the virtues of Christian life via early morning prayers which she attended with him.
Oyedepo, on completing his education at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin started working with the Federal Ministry of Housing in Ilorin. After working briefly, he resigned to concentrate on missionary work. He received a PhD in Human Development from Honolulu University, Hawaii, US.
Christian Life
David Oyedepo gave his life to Christ at the early age of 15, through the influence of his teacher, Betty Lasher, who took an interest in him during his high school days. He further revealed that on May 1981, he got a mandate from God to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith.
The vision led him to the founding of the Liberation Faith Hour Ministries, a movement which later metamorphosed into the present Living Faith Church World Wide (LFCWW).
In 1983, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David and his wife, Florence Abiola Oyedepo to become pastors and officially commissioned the new church.
