Agboola Ajayi is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
Prior to his coming out as Gov. Akeredolu's running mate, Agboola served in various positions in Ondo State. In 1991, he started serving as a supervisor for Agriculture for Ese-Odo Local Government, a position he handled until 2001 when he got appointed as supervisor for Works and Transport in the same local government.

Agboola Ajayi was born on the 24th of September, 1968 into the family of Chief Newton Ajayi and Mrs. Rebecca Ogunjinte. He started his early elementary education at Kiribo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area before enrolling into the Community High School (also at Kiribo) for his secondary education. He later proceeded to Methodist High School, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
For his university education, Agboola Ajayi proceeded to the Igbinedion University in Edo State where he bagged a Bachelor of Law (LL.B). He graduated with a second class upper division and was called to the bar in 2010 after graduating from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja.

Career and Politics

Prior to his venturing into politics, Agboola Ajayi worked as a lawyer and businessman, serving on the board of many blue-chip and multinational companies.
He first step into public service was in 1999, when he got an appointment as a for Agriculture for Ese-Odo Local Government, a position he handled until 2001 when he was again appointed as supervisor for Works and Transport in the same Local Government. He served in the position until 2003.
Hon. Agboola next appointment was as the caretaker Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government between 2003 and 2004. He further ran for the seat of the Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government and won. He served as the chairman of Ese-Odo local government between 2004 and 2007. While in the seat, he also served as the Treasurer of Association of Local Government of Nigeria [ALGON] throughout the period.
In 2007, Ajayi was elected to represent the Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. While at the National Assembly, he served as the chairman House Committee on NDDC between 2007 and 2010. He was also a member of various committees including House Committee on Justice, House Committee on Habitat, House Committee on Industry and House Committee on Gas.
In 2016, he became the running mate of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN after joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the duo won the election. Hon. Alfred Agboola Ajayi was sworn in alongside his boss, Gov. Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on February 24, 2017.
In June 2020, Hon. Agboola Ajayi dumped the APC for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) where he declared his interest to contest against Akeredolu during the governorship election. 
On July 6, 2020, Daily Post reported about the plot to impeach Hon. Agboola Ajayi. This was following the running battle between the embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State and his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. They further reported that the impeachment process might be commencing on Monday at the hallowed chamber of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Agboola Ajayi is married to Chief (Mrs) Ajewole Agboola Ajayi and the marriage is blessed with children. His hobbies include sports development, travelling, meeting people and intellectual discourse.
