Zenani Mandela-Dlamini was born on the 4th of February, 1959 in Soweto, a township of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa. She is the eldest daughter of Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela and was born shortly after her Mum was released from prison. Winnie had been arrested and detained by the apartheid police for taking part in the anti-apartheid protests.Zenani Mandela-Dlamini's Dad, Nelson Mandela was arrested when she was just four years old and released 27 years later. She wasn't allowed to visit him until 1974, after her 16th birthday.

The marriage was blessed with four children, namely; Zaziwe (born 1977), Zamaswazi (1979), Zinhle (1980) and Zozuko (1992). They also have six grandchildren together.Zenani and her husband, Prince Thumbumuzi are the co-owners of Mandela, Dlamini and Associates (International Business Consultants). They are currently separated.
