Zenani Mandela-Dlamini was born on the 4th of February, 1959 in Soweto, a township of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa. She is the eldest daughter of Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela and was born shortly after her Mum was released from prison. Winnie had been arrested and detained by the apartheid police for taking part in the anti-apartheid protests.
Zenani Mandela-Dlamini's Dad, Nelson Mandela was arrested when she was just four years old and released 27 years later. She wasn't allowed to visit him until 1974, after her 16th birthday.

Zenani had her college education at Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa before proceeding to the prestigious Boston University located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Career

Prior to her getting the appointment as Ambassador of South Africa in Argentina, Zenani Mandela-Dlamini was already running a successful business with her husband, Prince Cedza Dlamini of Swaziland.
She got appointed as the ambassador of South Africa in Argentina in 2012, following the retirement of Tony Leon who previously held the position. She served in the position until 2017 when she got another appointment as the South African high commissioner to Mauritius.

Personal Life

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini first met Prince Thumbumuzi Dlamini of Swaziland who later became her husband while she was still studying at the higher institution. The duo got married in 1973. The marriage was blessed with four children, namely; Zaziwe (born 1977), Zamaswazi (1979), Zinhle (1980) and Zozuko (1992). They also have six grandchildren together.
Zenani and her husband, Prince Thumbumuzi are the co-owners of Mandela, Dlamini and Associates (International Business Consultants). They are currently separated.
