Abubakar Sani Bello was born on the 17th of December, 1967 to the family of Nigerian billionaire and former military Governor of old Kano state Col Sani Bello (RTD). Col Sani Bello, who is also the founder of the Sani Bello Foundation amassed an enormous fortune through investments in oil, telecommunications and electricity after retiring from the military.

Abubakar Sani Bello began his primary education in 1974 at St. Loius primary school, Kano. In 1980, He proceeded to the Nigerian Military School from where he obtained his SSCE in 1985. He further gained admission in 1986 to study at the prestigious University of Maiduguri, graduating in 1991 with B.Sc in Economics.

Career and Politics

Abubakar Sani Bello's professional career spans across several parts of the country. While undergoing the compulsory NYSC program, he worked as a Supervisor at the NICOTES Services Marketing Department, Port Harcourt.

In 1993, he began working at the Shipping Department of the Off Shpores Pipelines International (OPI). In 1994, he proceeded to the Broad Bank, where he served as the Alternate Director until 2000.

Between 2000 to 2009, he served as the Chairman/CEO of Millenium Travels and Tours and Properties and Estates Ltd. He also served as the Director of Dornier Aviation Nig. AIEP Ltd (DANA) and other top companies and organisations.

In 2009, he got appointed by Governor Aliyu Babangida as the Commissioner of Commerce and Investment of Niger State.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello contested for the Nigeria State, APC gubernatorial primaries for 2015 elections and won, after polling 3,829 votes to defeat Senator Musa Ibrahim who was his closest rival. He went on to win the general election with a total of 593,709 votes. He was re-elected in 2019 for the second term in office.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello is happily married to Dr. Amina Abubakar Sani Bello, a medical doctor and founder of the Raise Foundation. She has through her foundation, given succour to more than 1,000 cervical cancer women who undertook surgeries at her expense, as well as 63 Vesico Vaginal Fistula VVF victims.

Raise Foundation has also empowered over 1,500 women in the rural areas and sponsored more than 1,000 women to be screened for breast cancer in the three senatorial districts of the state.
The marriage is blessed with children.
