Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was born on the 20th of March, 1964 to parents who hailed from Orba in the present Udenu Local Government Area of the Enugu State. After completing his primary education, he enrolled at the St. Theresa's College, Nsukka, where he obtained his SSCE certificate.
He further gained admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Finance and M.Sc. degree in Marketing (Public Relations). He also holds an MBA degree in Finance and another MBA degree in Accountancy from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
Career and Politics
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was the General Manager and later, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Premier Insurance Brokers Limited Enugu, a prime Insurance broking firm in the South-East zone of the country and owned by the five states in the zone and ACB Bank. In 2002, he became the 16th president of the Rotary Club of Emene in Enugu.
In 2003, he was elected into the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), representing Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency. He served for three terms and exited the position in 2015 to contest for the Governor of Enugu State. As a member of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, he served as the Chairman, House Committee on Marine Transport.
On December 8, 2014, Ugwuanyi contested for and won PDP’s ticket for the gubernatorial election, thus becoming the State's PDP Governorship Candidate for the 2015 General Elections. He also won the 2015 general elections and was sworn in on May 29, 2015.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was re-elected as Governor of Enugu State on March 9, 2019, after polling 449,935 votes which was higher than his opponent, Senator Ayogu Eze who scored 10,423 votes.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is happily married to Dr. (Mrs) Monica Ugwuanyi and the marriage is blessed with children.
