10 Things You Must Never Forget When Packing For A Family Island Holiday

10 Things You Must Never Forget When Packing For A Family Island Holiday
A family holiday on an island, such as a holiday in the Seychelles, can be an exciting experience for everyone involved.
However, if you do not pack the right items for your trip then it might turn out to be a disaster. A Seychelles holiday requires a certain amount of preparation, especially if you want to explore the stunning turquoise waters without any stress. Knowing what to pack for your family can be difficult, but there are some tips that you can follow.

If you are packing for island family holidays you should start by making a list of items you need the most. For example,  plenty of sunscreen should be top on your list to ensure that you and your family do not get burnt while they are out enjoying the sand and sea. For those who are planning on exploring an island in the near future, keep reading for what to pack for a family island holiday.

- Don’t forget your documents

One of the most important things you need to do before you and your family go on an island break is to ensure that all of your documents are in order. This includes your passport, visa, identity documents, flight tickets, travel insurance information, and anything else that is vital to your trip.

Once your documents are in order, you will need to make copies of everything in case of emergencies. You should also give all of this information as well as a detailed list of where you will be going and what you will be doing to someone who can help you, such as a family friend who is looking after your house and can phone relevant numbers when needed. Having every document in order will help to alleviate the stress and ensure that your trip runs smoothly throughout.

- Helpful hand luggage

Hand luggage on a flight can be extremely helpful, allowing you to bring along toys and games for your children to play if they become bored on the flight and could become disruptive. For example, you could bring along colouring books and card games, such as Uno, for them to play with that are easy to contain and not messy.

Be sure to check your children’s hand luggage to see if they have not packed something that could set off the security alarms. Allow them to bring along a favourite toy for when they want to fall asleep during the flight. This will help them to feel safe and allow them to sleep easily and quietly when the time comes. None of the toys or games you pack should be messy or difficult to handle out of respect for other passengers.

- Simple sun protection

Going on an island holiday means that you will be out in the sun for most of the day, swimming in the azure blue sea, scuba diving, and relaxing on the sand for hours. And this means that you need to have plenty of sun protection with you for those days when you will be sitting on the sand from morning till evening.

You will need to check the allowances for the liquid that can be taken on your flight with you for your sunscreen as well as for any other products you might need for sun protection. Bring along caps, hats, and sunglasses for everyone in your family to ensure further protection. Do some research on when the sun will be at its peak during your stay there in order to avoid being out in direct sunlight during these times.

- Keep clothing simple

While you might think that your children will need at least three different outfits for each day you are there, it is actually a better idea to keep clothes packing simple and straightforward. And this should start at home, by washing, drying, folding and packing the clothes your children want to bring with them so that they cannot be reused (meaning they will need to be rewashed).

Pack your children day outfits, night time outfits and play outfits that they can mix and match and that you can easily wash. Some hotels have laundry rooms built in while others allow you to use their housekeeping services to wash your clothes. You should be sure to bring along smart clothes for evening meals as well as comfortable walking or hiking boots if you plan on venturing off of the beaten track.

- Make some memories

One of the most important items you will need to pack is your camera, as well as its charger and batteries. You will want to capture every moment on your exciting island family holiday so that you can look back at your fond memories. Start your packing process by gathering all the correct documents, then ensure your hand luggage has toys and games for your children to play with.
Be sure to bring along plenty of sunscreen and hats and keep the clothing choices simple and easy to mix and match.
