Born on the 4th of August, 1960, Abdul Samad Rabiu is a Nigerian top businessman. He is the son of a Nigerian foremost industrialist of the 1970s and 1980s, Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu.
Abdul is the founder and chairman of the BUA Group and also the chairman of the Nigerian Bank of Industry (BOI).
According to a 2013 Forbes report, Abdul Samad's wealth is estimated to be at $1.2 billion, putting him in the list of the global billionaire's club.

Talking about his early life, Abdul Samad Rabiu was born in Kano, North-Western Nigeria and had his early education there.
He had his university education in the Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and returned to Nigeria when he was 24 to oversee his family business. This was as a result of his father being detained by the then General Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly not paying rice import duties.
Abdul Samad Rabiu established the BUA International Limited in the year 1988 for the sole business of commodity trading.
The company imported flour, rice, edible oil as well as iron and steel.

The government, which owned the Delta Steel Company contracted with BUA in 1990 to supply raw materials in exchange for finished products.
The helped to boost the young company and they furthermore expanded into steel, importing iron ore, producing billets constructing of multiple rolling mills in Nigeria.
A few years later, BUA acquired the Nigerian Oil Mills Limited, the largest edible oil processing company in Nigeria and in 2005, started two flour-milling plants, one in Lagos and another in Kano.

By 2008, BUA had broken an eight-year monopoly in the Nigerian sugar industry by commissioning the second-largest sugar refinery in sub-Saharan Africa and went on to acquire a controlling stake in a publicly-listed Cement Company in Northern Nigeria in 2009. 
They began the construction of a $900 million cement plant in Edo State, and had it completed in 2015.
