Born on the 23rd of October, 1969, Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule popularly known as Okey Bakassi is a Nigerian actor and stand-up comedian.He had his university education at the River State University of Science & Technology, and always wanted to be an entertainer even when he was still there.
The River State University of Science & Technology didn't have a Theatre Arts department and he formed a group, ‘Theatre Kolleagues’ with other students of like minds for the purpose of acting and entertaining the university community.
After his university education, Okey Bakassi moved to Lagos State where he met with popular movie director and producer, Zeb Ejirowho gave his the opportunity to appear on a TV program, 'Fortunes' in the year 1993.
He played the role of Nick, one of the Johnson's bodyguards. He started his comedy career since then and has turned one of the most successful Nigerian stand-up comedians. He has been nominated for the Nollywood Movie Award for Best Lead Actor in an Indigenous Language.
