Born on the 29th of January, 1961, Strive Masiyiwa is a Zimbabwean entrepreneur and philanthropist.He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wales, and an honorary doctorate from the Morehouse College for his philanthropy and humanitarian work.
Married to Tsitsi Masiyiwa, the African billionaire has six children - Sarah Masiyiwa, Tanya Masiyiwa, Moses Masiyiwa, Esther Masiyiwa, Vimbai Masiyiwa and Joanna Masiyiwa.
Strive is Zimbabwe's first billionaire, and worked briefly as a telecom engineer before quitting the job to create the Retrofit Engineering.
He created the first Zimbabwean mobile telecom network, but met resistance with the government who as at then was the sole provider of telecomm services in the country.
The government also cancelled their contract with the Retrofit and the challenges set him backward, almost turning him bankrupt when in 1997, Stive got the license to operate Econet.
They launched the services in Zimbabwe, 1998.
