Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde (popularly known as Funke Akindele) was born on the 24th of August, 1977 in in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Her father was a principal, while her mum is a Medical Doctor.

Funke Akindele had her early primary education at Grace Children Schools and secondary education at Lagos State Model College, Igbo-kuta. After completing her secondary education, she proceeded to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (formerly Ogun State Polytechnic) where she obtained an OND in Mass Communication. She also has a Law degree from the University of Lagos.

Entertainment Career

Just like Falz, Funke Akindele decided to pursue an acting career after graduating from law school. One of her first movies was 'Naked Wire', where she played the role of a waitress.
Funke's rise to stardom began when she began starring in 'I Need to Know', a popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored sitcom that aired between 1998 and 2002. She was playing the role of a Bisi, curious but brilliant secondary school student in series. The series was created to enlighten the public on the issues teenagers face while growing up.

Funke Akindele has since then, been featured on many Nollywod movies, especially Yoruba ones. Some of her hit movies include Omo Ghetto, Maami, Ojo Ketala (13thDay) and Iru Oka. Funke also starred in 'A Trip to Jamaica', a popular 2016 movie that was directed by Robert O. Peters and produced by Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun.

Funke Akindele got her major breakthrough when she began playing the main character in a comedy-drama movie, 'Jenifa's Diary'. In the popular series, she played the role of a village girl that went to Lagos to pursue a 'better' life. The movie was really a great success and put her name in the hearts of many Nigerians. Funke Akindele was married to Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, but they divorced in July 2013, after 413 days of living together. Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede is a businessman and politician, who has several children from 3 - 4 women.
In May 2016, Funke got married to Nigerian rapper, Abdul Rasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz. The marriage, took place in London.
InformationNG.com stated that Funke Akindele's wasn't in support of the actress marriage to JJC Skillz, because she believed he has the same profile as that of Funke’s first husband, Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede. JJC Skills reportedly had three children from three women before getting married to Funke.
Funke Akindele gave birth to twin boys, Zack and Zion with JJC Skills in December 2018. The birth of the twins was confirmed by Akindele’s publicist, Mr. Biodun Kupoluyi and published by PunchNG.com.
