Bola Shagaya was born on the 10th of October, 1959 to Emenike Mobo a Nigerian Public Servant and Adut Makur a Sudanese seamstress. After completing her primary education, Bola enrolled in the prestigious Queens School, Ilorin for her secondary education.
She further gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where she obtained a bachelor's degree in economics. She also has a degree in accountancy from Armstrong College, California.

Career

Bola Shagaya started her career as a banker, working in the audit department of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN). In 1983, she left the corporate world to start her own business. The first business she set up involved the importation and distribution of photographic materials such as roll papers, films and chemicals under the trading name, Bolmus International (Nigeria) Limited. It didn't take long, she became the sole West African agent of the then leading photographic company, Konica.

Other ventures:

Bola Shagaya is also the managing director of Practoil Limited, one of the largest importers and distributors of base oil in Nigeria, serving local lubricant blending plants. She also has huge investments in real estate, spanning across major cities in the country with over three hundred employees.
Shagaya has been on the board of Unity Bank plc for over eight years. She is also a member of the recently inaugurated New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Business Group, Nigeria.

Personal Life

Bola Shagaya is married to Alhaji Shagaya and they have four children, Sherif Shagaya, Hakeem Shagaya, Deeja Shagaya, Naieema Shagaya, Amaya Roberts Shagaya and Adeena Roberts Shagaya.
