Uche Secondus was born on the 22nd of March, 1955 in Andoni, Rivers State. He started his early primary education at River State and secondary at the famous Catholic Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt.After obtaining his O-level, he proceeded to London where he obtained a certificate in Commerce from the London Chambers of Commerce Institute.
Political Career
Uche Secondus ventured into politics in 1978, during the Second Republic. He first served as the Rivers State Youth Leader of the Defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN). From 1993 - 1998, he served as the Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC). He also served for two terms as the Chairman of the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party.In 2007, Uche Secondus was the South-South Coordinator for the PDP National Campaign Council that organized the campaigns for the Party during that year’s general elections. At the PDP Convention that was held in 2008, he gained further promotion to National Organizing Secretary, an office he held till 2012.
He was elected Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party on 1st September 2013. Following the resignation of Adamu Mu’azu, the governor of Bauchi State in 2015, he briefly served as Acting National Chairman of the Party.
On December 10, 2017, he contested for the position of National Chairman of the PDP at a National Convention of the Party in Abuja and won. He is still serving in the position.
