Archbishop Anthony Muheria was born on the 27th of May, 1963 at Kaburugi in Murang’a County. After completing his high school education, he proceeded to the Nairobi University where he gained a BSc in Science and Civil Engineering in 1984.


On completing his education, he joined Opus Dei where he worked as a consultant engineer for five years before travelling to Rome where he studied Holy Cross University, obtaining a licentiate and degree in theology.
Anthony Muheria was ordained a priest on 13 June 1993.
On his return to Kenya, Anthony worked in the Opus Dei regional offices as head of education, in charge of a programme for the human, professional, doctrinal and spiritual formation of Opus Dei members.
He also worked as a spiritual assistant in schools and Opus Dei institutes, while preaching in retreats.
On October 30, 2003, he was appointed as Bishop of Embu, Kenya, and in January 2004, ordained. he served at Embu for five years before being posted to Kitui Diocese in 2008.
Archbishop Anthony Muheria was appointed as the Apostolic Administrator of Machakos, Kenya on 21st February 2015.
In 2017, he was appointed as the Archbishop of Nyeri, Kenya. In 2018, he ceased working as the Apostolic Administrator of Machakos, Kenya.
